PROTECT

The Rights of Others

As Knights we have a strong sense of duty to defend the rights of others

PROMOTE

The Reformed Faith

This duty is defined by our Protestant Reformed faith and Chivalric Code

PRACTICE

Practical Faith in Action

Like our ancient forebearers we put this faith into action, defending and caring for others.

Defending the Faith

For almost 1000 Years our Order has defended the Christian Faith
The Order was first a source of care and comfort to Christian Pilgrims in the Holy Land, but soon the realisation that prevention was better than cure led to development into a military order which would prevent attacks and persecution and would not simply respond to anti-christian attacks but would be proactive in defence. Indeed the entire ethos of the Crusades is one of defence through attack. Rather than wait for the enemy to come in like a flood the Crusades aimed to stop the threat at its source. It was this strategy which ensured the protection and ultimate survival of Christian Europe from the threat of militant Islam in the Middle Ages. Indeed it is still the strategy to deal with this threat as we have seen the West take the war to the heart of the Muslim World in order to protect our shores.
We act only in self defence and to protect our own faith and all the freedoms which flow from it. Our mission also points us to its promotion as the guide for how we conduct our individual and institutional affairs and also as the very Word of God and his plans for us his people. Our faith also inspires us to act as we put it into practice through charity and chivalry.

Statement of Faith

Defending Our Faith and Caring for those In Need for almost 1000 Years

Holy Scripture is the Basis of our Institution

While other Organisations seek enlightenment or advancement though mysteries or lost secrets we present the Bible as the source of truth, the very Word of God

The oldest Christian organisation aside from the Church

As we look forward to our first Millennium, we are the oldest continuous Christian organisation beyond the church itself, and exist as a protector for that true Faith, against all enemies.

We like the church embraced the Reformation truths and keep that fire alive.

Today more than ever and from diverse enemies and threats we fight to preserving Faith and Freedom for the Future

Membership of the Order

Are you Worthy to Wear the Colours and Cross of Our Ancient Order
For over ten centuries men of faith and courage have 'taken the cross' and joined our Order to defend their faith. From the lonely Crusader Castles and walls of Jerusalem, to the island fortress of Malta to today's battlefields our Order has never been found wanting. It is often the brave chosen few who make that stand against overwhelming odds, just as God chose Gideon and his few in number so today He does not need the many and the multitude, but those few who have the faith and courage to stand.

“ Qualification of Candidates ”

Any person seeking admission into the Ancient and Illustrious Order of Knights of Malta or Knights Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem must be a member or adherent of a Protestant Church; have a sincere love and veneration for the Almighty Creator; a firm and stedfast belief in the existence and functions of the Holy Trinity; in the Protestant doctrine of salvation by faith alone; and in the Holy Scriptures as the only rule of faith and practice.

PROTECT the Faith

“ Faith in Action”

Our  ancient and honourable fraternity calls, therefore, upon all Protestants by whatever name known, who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity and in truth, to enlist under its banner and to take their part in the religious regeneration of the world. With Protestantism aroused and faith kindled our religion would sweep the nations, to the utter destruction of every form of error and superstition.

Our Modern Crusades

Our Objectives of Protecting and Promoting the Faith as well as putting it into Practice, provide us with modern day Crusades. The principle has remained unchanged in over a thousand years and is based on our Order acting as a Watchman on guard against any and all threats to Our Faith. Today the threat from militant Islam remains, but less obvious threats like secularism, an intolerant scientific community, or social issue pressure groups which all seek to undermine the influence and even freedom to practice our faith are the enemies we must combat.
Our Crusades range from charitable activities to constitutional campaigns, but they all have one thing in common, our defence of the faith.

The Present Dangers and Threats to Our Faith and Freedom
Many Question why there remains a need for a Military Order to defend the faith, others see Christianity as a passive, peaceful faith almost thriving on persecution others doubt that the actions of few will make any difference. In short answer to these questions we urge readers to look up, to have faith in God and to realise he asks us to act and to contend for our faith. Then to look out and see the clear and present dangers that threaten the church today, and finally to look in to your own heart and conscience and ask what can you do.

Our World Watch Feature allows us to look out and survey the battlefield that lies ahead, to identify the enemy and where our actions will have most impact. To be forewarned is to be forearmed, so we encourage each of you to begin your own personal Crusade, to stand as watchmen and women beside us identifying the dangers and sounding the alarm to rouse others to action.
