Become a Knight of Malta
Follow 1000 years of tradition and join our Order
Full Membership
Having read the Qualifications and understood the Ethos of the Order if you would like to join then contact us today and we will explain the Initiation Process and the Journey you must undertake to become a Sir Knight and Companion of this Ancient and Illustrious Order.
The first step is to be directed to a local Encampment the location of the Initiation and meeting which will be convened to confer there degrees which are central to the Order. It is the decision of the Encampment whether they will accept you and assist you on your journey.
We do not ask from you money or this world’s material goods unlike many of the spurious chivalric orders which exist today, rather we require time and dedication to support and further the Order.
As an international fraternal Protestant Order we welcome members from across the globe and where possible we will place you with an Encampment or Commandery in your jurisdiction. Alternatively if distance or any other issue makes this difficult we encourage your to consider Auxiliary membership.
Become part of an Order that fights for its faith!
Modern Membership
Support the Order with Associate or Auxiliary membership
Auxiliary Membership
For those who cannot commit to full membership or whose location or physical limitations prevent them from completing the journey through our degrees but still wish to support the Order we have developed Auxilliary membership and encampments. These also exist to allow the Order in different jurisdictions to communicate and collaborate in a less formal more practical way.
Entrance is through a simple common ceremony that allows the local Black Knights to become Auxiliary Members and form Auxiliary Encampments, the Auxiliary Initiation being valid across all Malta jurisdictions. This ceremony can be enacted either in an actual meeting, or by electronic means
In ancient times those who fought along with the Knights without becoming members of the Knighthood were known as Serjeants-at-Arms or Serjeants. This is the term used to describe those individuals who wish to support the general stand of the Order as auxiliary members.
Again membership is free and based on application and satisfaction of our entry requirements and support of our ethos.
Become a Dame of Malta
Equal and empowered working alongside the Knights of Malta
Female Membership
From ancient times women have played a central and valued role in our work and witness. They served alongside Knights in the Holy Land providing medical aid and support to weary pilgrims and the Order itself. Their prayerful and practical support has been valued down through the generations and their role recognised and rewarded.
The Dames of Malta has an autonomous structure, its own initiation and degree structure and is unique amongst the Black Orders in that it affords equality and opportunity for women to join and play an important role.
It has empowered and employed women giving them leadership and a voice in the promotion of their faith. Their particular skills and strengths have flourished and together we have worked in a way that in unrivalled in such Orders. The Malta has united fraternity and sorority in the common cause of Protestantism.
Membership is by application to the relevant Sisterhood which is attached to an Encampment, where that is not possible due to distance then Auxiliary Membership may be considered.
