“ Protecting Our Members ”

The need for self-defense was learnt in the Holy Land, as the Hospitaller Order soon became a military order. It learnt that if it could not physically defend itself and those it cared for, it would be of no use to anyone. The development of the Order and the defence of its members was not a selfish act but a necessary one and today we help our members to enable them to help themselves. We exist to protect them in physical and spiritual terms. That includes Biblical teaching and instruction, fellowship and support as they live out their faith at home, work, the sports field or wherever they find themselves. It also means providing them space to socialise and support each other to enjoy life and to be better family men and fathers. Finally it means practical support with the Order pioneering insurance schemes and medical care for members.

“ An International Christian fraternity”

Our ancient and honourable fraternity calls, therefore, upon all Protestants by whatever name known, who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity and in truth, to enlist under its banner and to take their part in the religious regeneration of the world. With Protestantism aroused and faith kindled our religion would sweep the nations, to the utter destruction of every form of error and superstition. These noble aims are today realised by using modern weapons such as the internet and social media. They must be used with the same skill and courage as the swords and lances raised by our ancestors in defence of our faith. Our aim is to promote interest in and knowledge of the Order, its role and relevance; to encourage men to join and to in turn promote the ethos and principles of the Order in their own lives and spheres of influence.

“ Fraternity in Action”

Just as our forebearers the Knights Hospitallers banded together to defend themselves their faith and those in need, we today meet together in what is known as ‘Encampments’. These meetings then democratically elect a team of ‘officers’ who take forward the agenda of the Order at a local level. They plan events which range from religious devotions such as services, commemorations of historic or national events, talks and educational events, social gatherings and nights out. The Order places fraternity and family at the centre of all it does and the strength we get from this connection helps us in turn in charity and community work to benefit others.
