Convocation of the GREAT CROSS

Convocation of the GREAT CROSS

The annual meeting of the Convocation of the Great Cross was held in Ballynagarvey Ind. Orange Hall.

A good attendance was recorded despite the inclement weather with the first snow of the year. The Convocation reviewed the progress of the year with membership increased by 20% a figure unheard of in recent times and testimony to the appeal and activity of the Priory.

An election of officers was held with The Priory Guide, Sir Knight and Shepherd Frank McClure signalling his intention not to put his name forward for reelection. Tributes were paid to Frank who is in his 90s and still a active member of the Order. His dedication and knowledge will continue to guide us.

Great Cross Priory Election

The election saw the return for all officers with Sir Knight James Anderson returned as Worth Prior and Sir Knight Wilkinson as Vice Prior for the ensuing year. The Worthy Prior Addressed the entire Priory after his election and welcomed new members, he paid tribute to the faithful Nat Storey father of our member Sir Knight Mervyn Storey MLA.

The Reports from Subordinate Priories were positive and showed progress and an increase in membership. The highlight of the year was a Reformers Parade and service to commemorate the Protestant Reformers and the Reformation.

The Annual Reformers Service marks over 500 years of the Reformed Faith. “Here I Stand I Can Do No Other”
