Peace Centenary Parade
This weekend Sir Knights from our Order will take part in a Parade to commemorate the end of the First World War.

All encampments are encouraged to attend although we are aware many members will be parading with other organisations or bands of which they are members.
The parade will be held in East Belfast and start in the Belmont area before finishing at the Dee Street/Ballymacarrett Road/Mersey Street junctions.
The parade will come down the Belmont Road, onto the Holywood Road and then onto the Newtownards Road before finishing in Dee Street.
The exact starting point cannot be confirmed as yet as we are awaiting permission from the landowner.
On route a short service will be held at the War Memorial on the Belmont Road as we remember those who lost their lives in the Battle of Paschendaele (better known as the Third Battle of Ypres) in 1917.
All members of our community are welcome to participate in the parade. In 2018 we remembered the sacrifice and the signing of the Armistice.
In 2019 we must remember the signing of the Treaty of Versailles which saw the end of the war on both the eastern and western fronts and those that survived the Great War.
It is hoped a special booklet (programme) will be produced for the event.
The organisers appreciate that this date clashes with the launch of the Maiden City Festival and the “Black” parade in Fermanagh. We apologise for the clash to both groups and wish them every success. We are also aware of a couple of band parades that day. Hopefully our early start will not interfere with these.
We extend a welcome to all to participate and observe the parade. We also ask that everyone shows respect at all times.
