For those who still wonder if we are at war let us remind you of the battles Christians face around the world.
The 2015 atrocity in Libya, a country which has played its own bloody part in terrorism in Ireland was filmed by ISIS. They released a video titled “A Message Signed With Blood To The Nation Of The Cross.” It contained the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christian Copts who had been kidnapped in Libya. The spokesman for ISIS, his face sheathed in black cloth, states:
Oh people, recently you have seen us on the hills of Al-Sham and Dabiq’s plain, chopping off the heads that have been carrying the cross for a long time, and today, we are on the south of Rome, on the land of Islam, Libya, sending another message….And we will conquer Rome, by Allah’s permission, the promise of our Prophet, peace be upon him.
Syria. The rise of ISIS has put Syria’s Christians at constant risk of death. In August 2014, as the Christian Post reported, ISIS released video of a Christian man refusing to embrace Mohammed as “messenger of God,” then having his head removed from his shoulders. ISIS used the video to warn “everyone like him.” An ISIS spokesman said, “He will be beheaded because he is Kaffir, non-Muslim, sided [with] the government and was not praying at all. Everyone like him will have the same end, beheading.”
Southern Philippines. While the Philippines is predominantly Christian in terms of population, Muslim terrorist groups routinely attack Christians in the south. Just last month, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front murdered 49 police officers after the police entered a town without first clearing it with the terrorist group. The government of the Philippines has been so crippled by MILF and associated terror groups that they have attempted to broker a political deal giving self-rule under shariah law to parts of the southern Philippines.
All of this stands aside from regular persecution of Christians in places like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Iran, where practicing Christianity may prompt jail sentences at best. Sentences of lashes or worse are regularly handed down by Iranian courts for converting to and practicing Christianity within the country. In Saudi Arabia, women and children have been arrested for practicing Christianity.
Christians all over the world are under assault by radical Muslims. It doesn’t take too long or far a look to see the dangers, however many Christians and Churches are wilfully ignoring this truth and turning a blind eye to the suffering of their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Let that now stop as we shine a light on the persecution and slaughter of our fellow Christians and bring their pain to the attention of the world
