As part of our ongoing programme of research the Heritage Encampment returned to the Public Records Office in Titanic Quarter Belfast to research the history of the Order.

Like many Orders which valued their privacy the Ancient & Illustrious Order of Knights Hospitallers of St. John and Knights of Malta, did not entrust their records to the State.
Therefore our exciting historical detective work requires us to use our own internal records to locate corroborative sources from the public records. Place names which indicate lands once held by the Order, or other items which can point to the reliability of our own primary sources.
Trying to tell the history of a thousand years is a monumental task and one which requires the dedication and skill of our team of historians and archivists.
We would also appeal to the members of the Order, their families and those who have been entrusted with the papers and affairs of former members no longer with us to look for any material or items belonging to the Order and let us help preserve it.
